The central oval is the cartouche of Xa-khpr-ra. The large Horus falcon (hypostasis here of Ra-Horakhty) to either side of the cartouche delivers ankh-life to the king (the hieroglyph depends from the uraeus around Horakhty’s sun disk). The most interesting signs are below the cartouche: a kneeling man, meaning HHw “millions” holding palm branches that write rnp.wt “years.” And the tadpole Hfnw throws in there an extra “hundreds of thousands.” The entire pectoral declares that Ra-Horakhty endows life, in which he will attain millions of years. That time frame of HHw rnp.wt millions of years denotes the life of a stellar soul(Ba) not the human body(Ka). In short bodies live for a few decades, but souls live for millons of years according to the ancients. This pectoral composition dating back to the 12th dynasty reinforced that understanding to the wearer.
