The life which the God Kings of the Egyptians lived was not like that of other men who enjoyed autocratic power and do in all matters exactly as they please without being held accountable. All of their acts were regulated by prescriptions set forth in Laws. Not only in their administrative acts, but also those laws that had to do with the way in which they spent their day to day time down to the food which they ate.

"In the matter of their servants, for instance, not one was a slave. They were not acquired by purchase - all were sons of the most distinguished priests.
