The symbolism is indicative of Horus role in transmitting the authority of heaven to the earth.

The falcon imagery extends farther than the outstretched wings. The colors of the sunrise and sunset gave Horus the name feathered in many hues, and the wispy clouds of Egypts evening sky were seen as similar to a falcons speckled breast. The two eyes of the falcon are seen in the sun and the moon with the moons diminished status often attributed in later tradition to wounds sustained from his conflict with Seth.
